Mission & Ministry - Happening Leadership

Happening in the Diocese of Florida is a ministry led by the Happening Steering Committee. The Steering Committee is a group of youth and adults who meet quarterly to prayerfully lead and guide Happening into the future. Past Happeners of any age are encouraged to apply and help keep Happening real and thriving.

The Happening Steering Committee meeting each May is an overnight meeting where we spend time reflecting on the past year and seeking new direction and insight for the coming year. At our meeting in May of 2012, the Steering Committee crafted the following purpose statements to guide Happening in the Diocese of Florida for the next year. 

The best thing about Happening is experiencing Jesus through servanthood and youth leadership while singing praises, feeling Christ's love and seeking Christ in others. 

The things that need improvement in Happening are growing both youth and adults into servant leaders, taking the Happening experience beyond the weekend, letting the weekend "just happen", being good examples to one another as we remember that the weekend is for God and the candidates. 

The things the Happening Steering Committee needs to work on are to continue to reach out and involve all parishes in the diocese, to seek, understand, and expect confidentiality and respect among one another, to work with other diocesan spiritual youth ministries, to communicate the availability to scholarships and to continue to grow more leadership from all parts of the diocese.
